Set in the final year of the Second World War, Germany where a 10-year-old boy, Jojo is an enthusiastic new recruit to the Hitler Youth programme and is often visited by his imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler, played in an over-the-top caricature by Waititi himself. When Jojo discovers his mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl in their attic, his life is turned upside down.

The dark-comedy is a strong contender at this year's Oscars, across 6 categories, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress (Scarlett Johansson), Best Film Editing, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design.
